Family photographs from Marrinan’s childhood in Ireland are projected onto the silhouette of her head and photographed within her present-day family home. Images from the 1970s dissolve into shifting fields of refracted color as the projector moves, bringing the past into an unstable present.
The familiar becomes elusive. Memory appears not as a fixed record, but as something layered, altered, and continually reimagined.

Two-person exhibition: Síle Marrinan & Pamela Zaremba.
In Unraveling Light and Time photographers Pamela Zaremba and Síle Marrinan explore how light within a place can reawaken childhood memories and reveal how family is not fixed, but layered, revised and reimagined over time.
Through varied photographic techniques and the inclusion of personal family artifacts, the artists investigate the tension between emotional memory and historical record.
Together, their works become stepping stones into the echoes of childhood—spaces where fact and feeling coexist, and meaning is continuously remade.

In this exhibition, two photographers join together to use visual storytelling to reimagine the memories of their mothers through the lens of their own family lives today.
Combining their own contemporary images with those from family archives, the photographers use light, space, objects and material to add new layers to the memories of their mothers who have passed, and to explore an inter-generational bond that transcends time and loss.
Through their work, they investigate how photography, as a bridge between past and present, can help us to reconnect with our histories and shape our sense of self in the here and now.
